Scene ~ after Carly tried to explain her *plan* to a less-than-friendly Sonny Carly: I guess I should have realized that you were going to twist everything I said to use against me. But Jason cares about you. So much. And I thought the least I could do was try to explain, for his sake.
Sonny: For Jason's sake you accused him of kidnapping and abuse? For Jason's sake you sell your kid to the highest bidder?
Carly: That- You know what? This is pointless. Okay? You're determined to hate me, that's fine. The feeling's mutual.
Sonny: Are you deluded to think Jason believes all your crap?
Carly: Jason does believe me, Sonny! He trusts me.
Sonny: Let me explain to you the concept of honour, since it's obvious you have none. Jason thinks he owes you because you're Michael's mother. For the kid's sake he refuses to fight. But I don't owe you a damn thing. Except payback for using Jason.
Carly: Oh, no. Wait a minute. That's your game. Okay, Sonny? You're the one who sends him out there in danger. You're the one who sends Jason out there to get shot at, hassled by cops, spit on by everybody in town. While you stay here in your safe little penthouse. You are the user my friend!
Sonny: You shouldn't have crossed me. I've told you that before.
Carly: I'm not afraid of you.
Sonny: You should be.
Carly: Oh, yeah? (they struggle, and Carly's hands are reaching for his neck to strangle him... if only.)
Sonny: Don't you dare.
Jason: (entering PH) Sonny. Let her go.
Sonny: It's time to cut this tramp loose!
Carly: You know what? I came here in good faith, Jason. I tried to explain our plan to this guy, and he-
Jason: You shouldn't have come here, Carly. What's going on with us has nothing to do with Sonny.
Carly: Well, the guy hates me, you know? And I don't want him to turn you against me.
Sonny: Jason doesn't need me for that. He can see for himself you're nothing but a pimp-
Jason: Stop!
Sonny: For your own kid.
Jason: Carly is Michael's mother. Don't insult her in front of me.
Carly: Thank you.
Jason: 'Thank you', Carly. There's no point in explaining what you're doing. Okay? It'll either work, or it won't. Either way, you me and Michael are the ones that are going to have to live with it.
Carly: I understand that. But, you know? He's been so vicious to me! I just want it all to stop, you know?
Jason: Carly, you should go.
Carly: Look, I didn't mean to upset you, Jason-
Jason: Now, Carly. And don't pull something like this again. This has nothing to do with Sonny.
Carly: I don't care what anybody else tells you, okay? I love Michael. And everything that I am doing is for the three of us. (she leaves)
Sonny: Tell me you're working her. Tell me you don't believe a damn word that comes out of her mouth.

Sonny: I'm clear on what you think you owe Carly. She's Michael's mother, so you feel an obligation to protect her. But she doesn't deserve that kind of consideration. Carly is who you should be protecting Michael from.
Jason: So far, Michael is okay. If I get permanent visitation, or even partial custody, he'll be even better.
Sonny: You would have Michael all the time if that slut hadn't sold you out. And she's gonna do it again. All somebody's gotta do is put some cash in front of her.
Jason: Sonny, I understand why you hate Carly. You have every right. But I'm asking you to back off. This is my problem, I have to solve it for myself. And I hate- I hate defending her to you. I hate it. It'd just be easier if you just left it alone.
Sonny: I'll do my best. But you make sure she stays clear.
Jason: I'll make sure she stays clear.
Sonny: Okay, I'm gonna say this once. You cannot trust Carly.
Jason: Okay. Maybe you're right. But whatever way it turns out, I have to handle it for myself. If it helps any, I know what it's like to watch a friend wreck their life and not be able to stop them.
Sonny: Who do you know that's ever wrecked their life?
Jason: Yeah. I'm gonna go shoot pool at Jakes before I go see Michael.
