Carly & Jason

Scene ~ Carly fell asleep on the couch in Jason's PH after she married AJ

Jason: Carly...! Wake up...!

Carly: Jason? (she sits up and looks around in confusion) What happened?

Jason: You fell asleep.

Carly: You mean that was all-? That was- that was all a dream. Thank god! (she throws herself ontop of him and hugs him for all he's worth)

Jason: Whoa, whoa. Wait, wait. What is it? What happened?

Carly: Oh, my god. You- You have no idea how much I need you. You can't even imagine what I've been through. (she hugs him again, a little less forcefully this time) Don't let me go.

Jason: Whoa, hey. Wait. What's wrong?

Carly: Just don't ever let me go, Jason.

Jason: Carly, Carly. What'd you do?

Carly: I- I... I pulled it off. Just like I said. I've got AJ right where I want him. There's just- There's this one problem, um... I don't want him. Not in my bed. (she gets up off the couch to pace) This is a disaster, Jason. I'm totally- left out in the cold, here-

Jason: Carly, Carly. Carly. Hold on. Back up. The wedding - did you go through with it or not?

Carly: It worked - in theory. Okay, as a concept - it was great. Down to the very last detail. Designer dress, expensive champage, no prenup hanging over my head. It was every girl's dream. I mean, it was my dream. Except in my dream, I don't marry a jerk.

Jason: So- So you bailed out.

Carly: I... choked. You know?

Jason: Carly, that was the smartest move you ever made.

Carly: Honestly?

Jason: What'd you tell him?

Carly: Who?

Jason: AJ.

Carly: Uh, no. AJ was in the shower. I left him a note, and I just split.

Jason: Alan, Edward. What'd you tell the wedding guests?

Carly: I didn't see the wedding guests. I came straight here.

Jason: How could- Nobody saw you leaving the wedding?

Carly: The wedding? Jason, not the wedding. This is after. This is in the honeymoon suite. Okay? (as he looks at her, his face changes when he realizes that she did marry AJ - disappointment) Yeah. (he sighs) Can you believe AJ bought me a negligee? I'm sorry, but the thought of having sex with him... You know, I thought I could pull it off because, how lucky do most people get in a house with their grandparents and their parents? And Michael is my ace in the hole, you know. He wakes up every night like clockwork. And, I mean, even if he didn't... I thought, you know, I could always pretend that I heard him crying.

Jason: What about when he was with me?

Carly: So, still. I mean, you know, with all those old fogies around...

Jason: Carly, that's why AJ booked the suite.

Carly: Yeah. Talk about taking it slow - he wanted to run me a bath.

Jason: Taking it slow isn't in the vows.

Carly: Fine. I blew it, okay? I know, I admit it. I am an idiot. But here I am, Jason. I'm... I'm married to AJ. So what are we gonna do now?

* * * * *

Jason: You're the one that cooked up this AJ scam. And now all of a sudden it's 'What are we gonna do, Jason?' What am I supposed to say?

Carly: Oh. So - what? You're punishing me now? Is that what's happening here?

Jason: Car- You're punishing yourself. What? What do you expect from me? Advice on how to sleep with AJ?

Carly: We're almost there, Jase.

Jason: Where, Carly? Where?

Carly: I have AJ in the palm of my hand. All I have to do is smash him.

Jason: No. All you have to do is sleep with him.

Carly: I did it before. You know, why is it suddenly such a big deal?

Jason: Probably because you know him better. (a very telling line - that applies to himself)

Carly: No. You know what it is? It's Bobbie. It's Bobbie! She ruined it for me.

Jason: Oh, it's Bobbie now.

Carly: Yeah, it is. 'You'll be miserable if you marry a man you don't love.' She kept repeating that over and over and over again like her mantra. And it- it wore a groove in my brain.

Jason: Since when do you pay attention to anything Bobbie says.

Carly: Fine. It's not Bobbie's fault. It's yours.

Jason: My fault?

Carly: Yeah. It's your fault. (she picks up a framed picture of the three of them off his desk and holds it up) Do you see this picture here? You see this? This is what I want, Jason. This is what I'm working toward. You, me, and Michael - together. As a family. That's why I'm doing this. Okay? And what do you do? Do you help me? No. Do you encourage me? No. Have you ever one time said, 'Good work, Carly'? No. You stand on the sidelines - cool and detatched. It's no wonder I'm stuck, Jason. I need your support, and you refuse to give it to me.

Jason: You're stuck, because your scheme is flawed. Do you want me to tell you why?

Carly: No. You know what I want? I want you to tell me how to fix it!

Jason: You're not as rotten as you think you are. Or you think you have to be. Okay? This plan of yours might work for someone who doesn't give a damn. But you're not that person. (he places a hand on his chest, over his heart) You're better in here than you think you are.

* * * * *

Carly: (video cut off) ... terrible person.

Jason: You do. And that's the problem. Carly, you gave yourself a terrible job. You're marrying a man you don't even like. You're living with a family you can't stand.

Carly: Just for awhile.

Jason: But - it's been how many hours since the wedding? And you're already coming apart. Yeah, AJ was the one you wanted to hurt. But, as usual, you're hurting yourself.

Carly: Well, look. If I could just hold it together for a couple of months...

Jason: How many times have you tried that, Carly? How many times has it worked? Get outta this mess.

Carly: Well. It's too late. I'm already married.

Jason: That can be fixed.

Carly: Yeah. Give the Quartermaine's proof that I'm unstable so they can send me back to Ferncliffe.

Jason: Carly, I won't let that happen.

Carly: How can you do it?

Jason: Nobody's gonna bother you here. I can put a gaurd at the door. We could- We could ask Alexis to handle the anullment-

Carly: No, no, no. How- How can you do, what you're doing right now? Time after time, I screw up and I act crazy. And you never once give up on me. I mean, even when I act like a maniac.

Jason: (there's a smile on his face, not so much on his mouth) You mean like the last time you were here?

Carly: (quietly) Yeah. I'm so sorry, Jason. I- I made all those threats about taking Michael away from you. And I didn't mean any of them. I would never do that. I mean, I don't even know why I said it. I was just was... so mad.

Jason: You couldn't go through with the wedding unless you got mad at me.

Carly: (pause) And people pay psychiatrists.

Jason: You gonna call AJ? Tell him you changed your mind, or are you gonna let him guess?

Carly: Either way he'd be here in a heartbeat.

Jason: (laughs a little) Carly, I can deal with that.

Carly: We'd be playing right into his hands. I can't tell you how much I want to stay here.

Jason: Well, then do it.

Carly: I don't ever want to go back to that house. I want to pack Michael up and I want to come home. I don't ever want to have tell AJ 'Good morning' again. But then, you know. His family would say that I'm nuts. And... a lot of people would agree. So, no. I- I need to stick with the plan.

Jason: Considering this is your wedding night, it doesn't look too promising.

Carly: And hour ago it was impossible. But I did the right thing, coming here. I mean, you reminded me what I'm working toward. Bringing Michael home. That's my goal. You know? I don't want AJ in our lives. I want him gone - squashed. Completely. And so if I wanna strip him of all his rights, I've gotta attack from the inside.

Jason: (sighs) You don't have to do anything anymore, Carly.

Carly: Just promise me, you'll wait for us, no matter how long it takes. (pause) Promise you'll wait?

Jason: You're my family. What else am I gonna do?

Carly: Okay, then. I better get back to the bridal suite. Excuse me while I go throw up.

Jason: What are you gonna tell AJ?

Carly: I'll figure it out in the cab. (she exits)
