Scene ~ Emily opens Jason's PH door to see Carly on the other side, ready to knock. Emily: Ugh. What are you doing here?
Carly: (she walks over to stand close to Jason) I'm here to see my son. Unless you have a problem with that.
Emily: No. But I'm sure Michael does.
Jason: Emily.
Emily: I'm sorry. You know, I really meant that as a joke, Carly. It was supposed to be funny. So, Jason. What time do you think you're gonna pick me up on Friday for the Nurses Ball?
Jason: Ah, I'll call you.
Emily: Okay. Bye.
Jason: Okay.
Carly: You're taking that little brat to the Nurses Ball?
Jason: I wasn't gonna go at first. But then I changed my mind.
Carly: Oh. Well, at least you'll get to see me. AJ's having Chloe make me a dress.
Jason: That's nice.
Carly: I didn't have any- any jewelry that was formal enough to wear with it, though. So I actually came to get my diamonds back. Unless Hannah threw those out too.

(Carly's coming down the stairs. Jason's perched on an arm of the couch with a folder.)
Carly: Remember the night you gave these to me? We were going to that party for the docks renovation? You remember. And I was kinda nervous because of all those people that were gonna be there, that they'd be looking down their noses at me? I remember I said 'It'd be nice if I had some jewelry.' (she puts the necklace on) The next thing I know, you handed me this box. They were the most beautiful things I'd ever seen.
Jason: Yeah, I remember that night. You called the dock strike on your own and nearly brought down the whole city.
Carly: (laughs) Doesn't mean I didn't look good, though does it?
Jason: I'm glad that you like the diamonds. I never understood why you brought them back here in the first place. If they make you happy, you should have them with you.
Carly: They do make me happy Jase. (she touches the necklace, smiling) You know why? Cuz they're expensive, see? And they're beautiful. And I like watching people's jaws drop when they see them. You know what makes me the happiest though? Knowing you're the one who gave them to me.
(he nods, almost smiling)

Carly: No, I think you and Emily make a great couple. (she pulls her compact out of her purse)
Jason: (leans into her as he passes her) Thank you.
Carly: (she laughs) You're welcome.
Jason: You know, Carly. Emily... (he drops his folder on the desk) Is trying. It's just not easy for her. (he leans on the desk)
Carly: Yeah, I noticed that. (she touches up her lipstick) It's not that you're going with Emily that surprises me, okay? It's that you're going - at all. In the past, the only reason you went to the Nurses Ball was because of Robin.
Jason: It's still about Robin. It's about everyone with HIV.
Carly: Okay, wait a minute. Robin wasn't 'everyone with HIV'. (he sighs) Robin is the person that you cared for more than-
Jason: Yeah, Carly. Robin and I were in love. Okay? I did something that she couldn't live with. She tried to fix it by telling AJ that he's Michael's biological father, and I can't live with that. I still care what happens to her. I do hope they find a cure for HIV so she can live a long life. Now if that means spending a night at the Nurses Ball, I guess I can manage that.
Carly: Well, good. Cuz I'm really glad that you're going. This way when I'm sitting at that stupid Quartermaine table with my diamonds and my dress, listing to AJ tell everybody how I'm his wife - I can always look over at you and remember why we're all there. Which is, to help. Not to mention how great you look in a tux. So, um, are you and Emily gonna be sitting with Sonny?
Jason: Uh, yeah. And his date.
Carly: Oh, yeah? Who's his date? Don't tell me it's that Hannah.
Jason: C'mon. You can't- You know what? You can't slap her at the Nurses Ball. The Quartermaines will not like that.
Carly: Well, fine. You just tell her to keep her hands away from you. We won't have a problem.
Jason: I told you that she's going - with Sonny.
Carly: Trust me. You're her backup plan, Jason. She and Emily are gonna have a great time sitting around dishing me all night.
Jason: Maybe they won't even notice you.
Carly: Oh, they'll notice me. (laughs) I'm gonna look great! I am.
Jason: Mmm.
Carly: And I'll be sure to tell Hannah, that you bought me those diamonds. Which are gonna make AJ just crazy. He's gonna hate it. But that's too bad. I guess he'll just have to hear the truth.
Jason: The truth? What?
Carly: The truth - would be, you know. (she starts to speak in a cutesy airhead voice) Gosh, I didn't have anything- any jewelry that was fancy enough to wear with the gorgeous beautiful gown that he bought me. And I just wanted to look really nice for my important and impressive husband. (she laughs)
Jason: You're telling me that AJ believes that stuff?
Carly: Oh, he lives for it. Anyway, I have to go. Will you kiss Michael for me? My little baby?
Jason: Sure.
Carly: Tell him I'll call him, tonight, before he goes to bed? For sure? Say 'I love you'?
(She walks over to him slowly, kind of... leery? And he leans down so she can give him a kiss on the cheek. Then they both laugh. There's something very interesting going on in the undercurrents of that kiss that I would love to know about...)Jason: (jokingly) Get outta here. (Smiling, he rubs his cheek - not the cheek she kissed.)
(She closes the door and leans on it for a second. Her hand rubs her cheek - not the cheek she kissed him with, then she rubs her other cheek.)
