Scene ~ Jason's PH, after Jason gave up his rights to Mikey (Jason picks up his jacket, looks around at the box-littered apartment, then turns and opens the door to leave. Surprise - Carly's on the other side. Did he really think he was getting away that easily?)
Carly: (she walks inside silently, looking around at the packing boxes) Hmm. (Then she notices the cut and bruise on his cheek, and reaches out to touch his cheek, concerned. But Jason holds up his hand to stop her before she touches him, and she drops her hand.) Going somewhere? (her tone is accusing)
Jason: Away.
Carly: Away. Hmm. Well, I can see why you would. You've got nothing to stick around for anymore, do ya? No family. (he looks away) No little boy, who's counting on you. Wanna answer me just one little question? Were you planning on saying goodbye first?
(He looks at her - angry.)

Carly: What is all this? Books, clothes? Stuff you're taking with you where ever you're gioing?
Jason: It's Michael's stuff that I'm giving to a shelter. Except for two boxes. There's things I thought that he might want. I was gonna send them to you.
Carly: Oh. Well, since you're gonna send them to me anyway. You don't mind if I take a look, do ya? (she pulls the flaps open on one of the boxes) I'm just curious to know what it is you think that Michael might want. I know what Michael wants. What Michael needs is his father.
Jason: Stop it.
Carly: Why should I stop it? You're always calling me a liar. I'm nothing compared to you. I asked you to promise me that you would wait. And do you remember what you said? You said that Michael and I were your family. (he nods and looks away, she starts crying) That you were in it for the long haul. And now you're just leaving. You're just walking away from Michael and I like we were nothing. You are the one person in my life that I ever trusted, the one person I ever counted on, Jason. And now you're just leaving! You're just- you're just walking away! That's fine then, you go! (she shoves him) You go and you walk! I don't care! Because you're a liar and I hate you!
Jason: You think this is what I want?
(she sniffs and shrugs, shaking her head)

Jason: (VCR cut out the first part of this line...) - because you were desperate or because you needed me. Or because it was the only way to help you. You came to me, pregnant, with a baby you said people wanted to steal. You asked me to help, and I did. You asked me to take care of Michael, and I did. But you never asked me to fall in love with him. I did that on my own. And I love him with everything that I have.
Carly: Jase, you don't show love, by leaving.
Jason: Sometimes you do.
Carly: No you don't! I was left, remember? I know. Do you want Michael to turn out like me?
Jason: I don't want him hurt, I don't want him afraid, Carly. I got mad and I threw something-
Carly: So don't do it again! Hello!
Jason: Don't you get it?
Carly: No.
Jason: Don't- don't you see? This- this- this plan of yours is not gonna work, Carly. This plan that you're trying to AJ to become a drunk again. Is that how you want to raise Michael? (sighs, and touches his cheek where the cut is) I promised that I would take care of you and that's what I'm doing. (she chuckles unbelievingly) If you don't like how I'm doing it, well, that's- that's just too bad. Because you've done a lot of things that I don't like either. But I am not abandoning Michael. Or you. I never will.
Carly: Yeah. I'm sorry to say I don't believe you. You know who I do believe, more than you? AJ. He actually seems to want me. So you know what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna give AJ the life that you could've had. And then I'm gonna forget all about you.
Jason: (sighs deeply) Do what you want. You always have. (he glances at her briefly, turns, picks up his jacket, walks out the door and closes it behind him)
(She stands there for a minute, crying, and covers her mouth with both hands. Then her words sink in to her, and she runs to the door in time to see the elevator doors close.)
Carly: No. I'm sorry... (she leans against the door frame, sobbing) Oh... I'm sorry Jason, don't go, please? Please don't go...

(Outside the building, Carly comes out the front doors as Jason is getting on his bike. She comes to stand in front of him as he's revving the bike up, and they share a long, silent look. Then he rides off, leaving her standing there...)
