Carly & AJ

Scene ~ PH 4

(On her way upstairs, Carly hears a knock at the door)

Reynaldo: Miss Roberts?

Carly: Yeah?

(she pulls open the door - and it's AJ)

AJ: You have a visitor.

Carly: Well, this is convenient timing! Or were you lurking down in the parking garage waiting for Jason's car to leave?

AJ: You and I have some things to settle that have absolutely nothing to do with Jason. Aren't you going to invite me in?

Carly: You can come in. (he comes inside and she shuts the door)

AJ: Gotta hand it to you, Carly. The other day must have almost gone exactly the way you planned it! Jason and I at eachother's throats while you stood there watching...

Carly: Funny. Jason didn't seem too upset.

AJ: Probably wasn't. But I finally figured out what he already knew. I don't love him. I loved my brother-

Carly: Oh, God, AJ! Do you have any idea how sick I am of listening to you talk about your dead brother? I didn't know him, okay? But I am sure that he is nothing compared to the Jason that I know!

AJ: Well, you're right about that. My brother would have never served your purposes at all. He was generous, compassionate, and, most of all, he always wanted to do the right thing.

Carly: That sounds exactly like the Jason that I know.

AJ: Is it right to keep a baby from its father?

Carly: Jason is the father!

AJ: (laughs) I don't think so. Oh, I believe he slept with you - along with everyone else in this town. But you see, the question that I forgot to ask him was - 'When?' It certainly wasn't the night this baby was conceived.

Carly: What do you mean? You mean the night you had your last blackout?

AJ: Alcoholic blackout. Which is a lot different than the little field trip you arranged for me in the laundry cart.

Carly: You're never gonna believe that I'm sorry for that, are you?

AJ: You're never gonna believe I don't care.

Carly: Fair enough. I did not sleep with Jason the same night I slept with you and Tony. But, I was with him for an entire week before... And the day after.

AJ: Don't believe you.

Carly: (shrugs, walks to the dinner table, and she leans back against it) That's alright. Why don't you ask Tony? You just check it out with him. You know, see, I went on this mysterious trip to Florida to visit a sick friend. Actually, because I was sick of having to wait for him to have five minutes to spend with me. So, I lied. And I went, I went to Jake's. Stayed in Jason's room for a week. On the bed. On the floor. The dresser. In the shower. I gotta tell you, your brother is really an unforgettable experience. (she walks back to him, rubbing her stomach and smirking) And, uh, when I finally headed back to Tony, he picked a fight with me. So, I decided I was better off with Jason. And I headed back to Jake's. But he wasn't in the bar - you were. Unfortunately.

AJ: And you figured one brother was as good as another.

Carly: I did not know you were his brother at the time!

AJ: Probably wouldn't have mattered.

Carly: No, it probably wouldn't have. And not that you were anywhere near as good as Jason was-

AJ: (starts for the door) This is useless.

Carly: I couldn't agree more!

AJ: (he turns back to her) The only thing that matters here is when the blood tests come back. If this baby is mine, I'll get sole custody.

Carly: By wishing for it? Huh? You think you're a big shot, AJ? Mr. Quartermaine? Cause you got a lot of money? Well, Jason's got money too. I'm not afraid of you anymore.

AJ: You should be.

Carly: Why don't you leave, before I call Reynaldo?

AJ: Don't feel like it-

Carly: Reynaldo!

(Reynaldo opens the door and walks in, then stands next to Carly)

AJ: Reynaldo.

Carly: I think I'd like Mr. Quartermaine here to go home.

Reynaldo: You heard her.

AJ: You better enjoy this baby now. Cause once the blood tests come back, you'll never see this baby again.

Reynaldo: Move!

AJ: (holds up his hands) Easy, Turbo.

(AJ exits)

Reynaldo: Miss Roberts, you need anything?

Carly: No, thank you. I'm fine. (Reynaldo leaves) We're gonna be just fine. (she rubs her stomach) We're gonna be fine.
